[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]T[/nectar_dropcap]oday is Toni's birthday!!!
Beyond worthy of celebration, Toni is one of our beloved Smile Architects, which is why we want to celebrate by sharing some fun, random facts about her. We want to offer a glimpse of why we enjoy her so much here at Shoe Orthodontics.
First, you must know that she grew up in Alabama, and she doesn't hide it. Her favorite movie is Sweet Home Alabama, and she loves to yell "Rolllll tide!" during football games. Now, some of you may not think these are the best facts in the world, but trust us, even if you aren't an Alabama fan, you'll love this Alabama fan. Even more than Alabama, Toni loves people and sees every new day as an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life.
If Toni could have one superpower, she says it would be to fly. We believe that as a superhero, Toni would turn all mean people into kind people. She would make sure we all had cookies at Christmas, and she would make us watch Little House on the Prairie when we're tired.
We could go on and on. We're hoping Toni has a wonderful birthday. Here's to many more to come!

[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]E[/nectar_dropcap]very month, Shoe Orthodontics chooses a different local charity to support, and this month we're honored and excited to highlight and serve Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation.
The Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation (CCRF) improves the mental, social, and emotional well-being of children with cancer and their families. This worthy charitable foundation supports these families through several avenues, including the Bearable Gifts Program, the Helping Hands Fund, and the Camp Scholarship Program.
It is our joy to invite you to join us in supporting the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation, by:
Purchasing awesome CCRF t-shirts in our office. 100% of the t-shirt proceeds will benefit the foundation! You are also welcome to donate beyond the price of the shirts as well 🙂
Contributing to the toy-collection box. We know you guys will have fun joining us in this, especially if you haven't shopped for toys in a while. Simply have a blast gathering fun toys, and bring them to the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation box at Shoe Orthodontics, knowing that your gifts will be more than just a notion of support.
We're grateful to help provide tangible ways to show these children and their families our love, and we look forward to joining you in this worthy cause.
Today we’re celebrating the birthdays of both Samantha and Nikki, and if anyone deserves a sweet celebration, it’s Sam and Nikki!
Samantha is our Ambassador of Buzz, which we feel is a perfect title for her dynamic personality! It should be no surprise that her favorite 90s jam was Missy Elliott’s Work It, and it’s not a stretch for anyone to see that she really does love her work. Everyone knows she’s connected with our entire office, but one thing many may not know is that she has a hidden (and totally useful) ability to sound EXACTLY like a goat. Samantha is like having our very own Zoe Deschanel in the office!
Nikki is one of our Orthodontic Assistants, and we know her around here as someone who truly enjoys her fiancé, two kids, two dogs, and two cats! Nikki loves her people, and we’re so grateful to be included as her people, too. Nikki’s secret talent is the ability to wiggle her ears. You may also not know that she has a huge wanderlust to travel the world! Nikki loves getting to know her patients and seeing them grow up as they go through treatment. Both Samantha and Nikki bring us a lot of joy around here!
That's right, guys. It's Jessie's birthday, and she deserves the biggest celebration possible! We're really wanting you to get to know her for so many reasons, but mostly because in high school, her favorite song was DJ Kool's "Let Me Clear My Throat," and that's what we're singing right now on her behalf!
Jessie is a romantic, married to her high-school sweetheart and totally in love with her awesome kiddos, Lucy (her Jack Russell Terrier), and Rosie (her super fat house cat... like, it's super super fat).
Though she secretly wishes she worked for Dunder Mifflin, we know she's a better fit here because a day without her game-changing laugh in the office isn't a day we want happening.
Lover of Suzie's Mexican Restaurant, any kind of pet, Jessie is a great addition to our office, and we choose working with her over Pam at Dunder Mifflin any day.
Everyone clear your throats and wish Jessie the Happiest Birthday!
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]S[/nectar_dropcap]hoe Orthodontics is honored to recognize a different local charity each month during the year. For the month of June, we’ve chosen The Adams County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). We’re all huge pup lovers here, and we know how many others feel the same way. This charity makes a difference in the lives of animals!
The Adams County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), is a non-profit organization that provides shelter and care for lost, abandoned and abused animals, investigates cases of cruelty to animals, recommends the prosecution of persons engaging in animal cruelty or neglect, helps control animal overpopulation and educates the community about spay/neuter programs, animals wellness and safety.
To support them this month, you can bring donations of money, dog/cat food or pet supplies. As our thank you, we’d like to give you a cool SPCA frisbee. We’ll also have some SPCA shirts for sale for $15.
100% of all donations we receive will go to the SPCA.
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]T[/nectar_dropcap]here is a lot to know about Dr. Shoe. So much, in fact, that we’ve come up with the top 25 things you should know about Dr. Shoe. And no, that doesn’t reflect anything about his actual age.
#1 What is Dr. Shoe like as a boss?
He is pretty much the BEST. He’s generous, genuine, caring and understanding. We are seriously lucky to work with Dr. Shoe. Everyone wants to work here. EVERYONE!!
#7 What are his pet peeves?
Having a dirty car and when the toilet paper doesn't roll from top to front! *We are in full agreement with these.*
#9 What kind of hobbies does he have?
He loves anything and everything that has to do with the outdoors. Especially things like spending time with his kids, working on cars, Crossfit, and digging holes with a backhoe. What are the holes for? Doesn’t matter!!
#14 Does he have any hidden talents?
Straightening teeth lol! ?
Seriously though, he can wiggle his ears! Ask him to show you!
Okay, so we don’t really have 25 things you should know about Dr. Shoe. But….we all agree that we are so proud of his determination and work ethic and that we have the best time working with him. He makes it fun to go to work and we know his patients love his fun-loving, joke crackin’ personality too.
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]H [/nectar_dropcap]appy Birthday to one of the kindest, most generous souls we know! We love having her on the Shoe Orthodontics team and we're happy to call her our own ?
One of the ways we like to celebrate our team’s birthdays is interviewing them to find out a little more about them and share that here with you. Enjoy!
So, we want to celebrate her today by helping you get to know her a little bit better:

? Baby Got Back by Sir-Mix-A lot. ? It's hard not to sing every single word because we all have it memorized. Don't say you don't!

What was your favorite TV show growing up?

Do you have any strange phobias or fears?
Clowns. Only clowns...You don't have to say anymore Jenna. We get it. In fact, can we change the subject please?
In all seriousness, help us wish Jenna the HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY today!!!
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]M [/nectar_dropcap]any of you know Connor Goonan. He's an eleven year old Littlestown native who was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. It's been an intense battle, but he is currently doing a lot better and is about to start a round of chemo for 6 months.
We'd be honored if you'd join us in supporting Connor and his family as he battles against cancer!
We feel it's important to be involved. Because of that, for the time being, Shoe Orthodontics will be offering "Connor's Crusade" T-shirts in the office for $15. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Goonan family!
Shoe Orthodontics will also be co-sponsoring a benefit skate for Connor on April 28th, 2018 at Magic Elm Skateland in Hanover, from 4:30-7:00pm!
We would love to see you there!
You can also donate directly to Connor's family here.
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]w [/nectar_dropcap]e LOVE having Emily on the Shoe Orthodontics team. She is so much fun to be around and it's clear to everyone that she knows her stuff! Emily has had quite an eventful week because her birthday was yesterday and now her 2-year work anniversary is today. We kind of think she planned it this way 😀
So, we want to celebrate her today by helping you get to know her a little bit better:
What's your favorite movie?
I love the movie Sweet Home Alabama, It's definitely my favorite!
What was the worst pet you've ever had?
My worst pet was a cat named Simba. He would chase and attack me all the time! I had to have him declawed. Maybe I shouldn't have named him after a lion!
What are you most afraid of?
I'm afraid of bugs AND heights. I think those are perfectly reasonable things to be afraid of. Heaven forbid I ever experience the two at the same time!
What's your favorite band?
Journey is my favorite group ever! Also, I think I need to let everyone know that I think Florida Georgia Line is the worst band ever. I'm sorry. I had to!
If you could be any kitchen appliance, what would it be?
She said if she could be any kitchen appliance, she'd be a refrigerator because then she'd have all the food!!
Help us wish her the best belated birthday ever!!!
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"] D [/nectar_dropcap]uring the holidays we get sentimental around here!! It's hard not to reflect on the privilege we have in this profession of having our patients come and hang out with us every day.
The holiday season reminds us of how awesome our patients are and humbled we feel to know you all.
We love this community. We love the people in it. Honestly, it makes us look forward to coming to work every day, which is an amazing gift that you guys have given our team.
So, with that in mind, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! May you have the warmest of holidays and a joyful new year!
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]B[/nectar_dropcap]ecause you absolutely needed more proof that we love to have a good time at Shoe Orthodontics, we decided to blog about our new team portraits.
I promise, I (Dr. Shoe) told everyone in the office to take this very, very seriously... and this is what they gave us!! These pictures are awesome. I think they do a great job of showing off how fun and engaging our team is.
Honestly, their personalities are one of the things I love about this team, and they make it really easy to come to work every day!
I'm so proud of them because their amazing personalities make Shoe Orthodontics a great place for our patients and their families.
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]w [/nectar_dropcap]e wanted to take just a second and wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving filled with great food and great company. We hope your Thanksgiving Day is awesome.
All of us at Shoe Orthodontics are so thankful for our patients and what this community means to us!
[nectar_dropcap color="#91c14f"]A [/nectar_dropcap]t Shoe Orthodontics, we value the relationship we have with our patients. We want our office to be a fun, positive environment where you have a great experience. We love what we do! It is important to us that it be evident in our online presence, so people are able to get a sense of the experience they'd have here at our office. We enjoy making going to the orthodontist something you and your children look forward to.
Hanover is an amazing, diverse, growing city and we love being a part of that. It's a great place to raise kids and build a life. There is a lot of opportunity here for even more growth. We want to contribute to that and our community and make them even better.
So, you’re probably wondering what a new website has to do with all of that? The truth is that we wanted our website to show off who we actually are and the kind of experience you’re going to have here at Shoe Orthodontics. We believe we have a special office filled with special people who are focused on giving our patients world-class results and as well as an amazing experience. We believe that’s the kind of experience Hanover deserves and our website has to show that off.
Follow along as we share more videos and pictures in upcoming posts.
