Dr. Katelyn Owen discovered her passion for orthodontics while shadowing during college — and she’s been committed to creating confident, lasting smiles ever since.
At Shoe Orthodontics, she combines precision, warmth, and a genuine love for what she does to make every visit feel comfortable and positive. For Dr. Owen, orthodontics isn’t just about straight teeth — it’s about helping patients feel proud of their smiles.
Dr. Owen earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Bucknell University, graduating Summa Cum Laude while competing on the Division I lacrosse team. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2018.
Following dental school, she completed her Master of Science and Certificate in Orthodontics at Seton Hill University. Her advanced specialty training allows her to treat a wide range of orthodontic needs with precision and confidence.
Dr. Owen is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, and the Maryland State Dental Association.
She values collaboration within the orthodontic community and is committed to advancing both the quality and convenience of care offered at Shoe Orthodontics.
Dr. Owen and her husband live in Glyndon with their three boys and their loyal dog, Penny. Life outside the office is full of energy — from cooking together to hiking local trails.
Having trained in Pittsburgh, she remains a faithful Ravens fan and enjoys staying active, currently preparing for her next marathon. Family and community are central to who she is — and that carries into the way she cares for her patients.
Dr. Owen is Invisalign certified and trained in advanced orthodontic techniques, including Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) and Soft Tissue Laser procedures. She believes great results come from combining proven techniques with modern technology.

We opened a second location in Reisterstown to provide even more support for the communities we love! Dr. Shoe worked in Reisterstown for 7 years before opening our first office! He loved it so much, he’s excited to be back!
