You know we love giving back to our community, and one of the ways we like to do that is through our annual shoe drive to support YWCA-Hanover! We hope to top our past efforts this year, but we need your help!
YWCA-Hanover supports local children and their families. “It was March of 1920 that the Girls Club of Hanover acted upon a motion to form the YWCA in Hanover.” These words were written in a history pamphlet for the YWCA’s 50th anniversary. Their programs have changed over time to respond to the community's needs. They have ranged from fitness programs for women, gymnastics for girls, dances and clubs for teenage girls, women’s clubs and classes, and developing the now-essential domestic violence program, we call Safe Home. Their childcare programs remain a large part of meeting their mission of empowering women and serving families.
Many YWCA-Hanover advocates are active within the community, presenting education programs to help prevent domestic violence. YWCA-Hanover has made a lasting difference in these people’s lives and our community, and it’s our privilege to help however we can to support them.
Want to know how you can help?
Bring in your gently worn, used, and new shoes — all sizes are appreciated! The YWCA will provide the shoes to the children and their families of the Child Care Services and other YWCA-Hanover programs.
YWCA-Hanover also has an updated wish list of items that are most needed. So if you want to donate any of these items, you can drop them off at the office during our shoe drive, and we will make sure they are delivered! Bring your donations to our office during regular business hours from 12/10/19 - 1/31/20.
